The fourth and final EU LiveSeeding webinar, titled “Business Models and Business Plans Development”, will take place online on 13 and 14 May 2026.
This two-day webinar is part of the LiveSeeding Organic Seed and Breeding Entrepreneurship Training Center and aims to equip existing and emerging organic seed and plant breeding initiatives with practical tools and frameworks for building financially sustainable businesses.
About the webinar
Running a financially sustainable business in the organic seed and breeding sector, one that combines respect for seeds as a common good with the delivery of quality plant reproductive material, is more difficult than it should be. To thrive economically while staying aligned with organic farming principles, entrepreneurs need a clear business strategy, an understanding of their costs and revenues, the ability to adapt to a constantly changing market, and the capacity to exploit their unique organic advantages.
The webinar will present key outcomes from the LiveSeeding project related to business entrepreneurship, providing participants with practical insights and strategic tools to build, over the course of the sessions, the roadmap of their organic seed business:
- The Business Birdview connects challenge analysis with strategic direction on a single page, supporting clearer positioning and a long-term business orientation.
- The Business Model Canvas helps clarify how value is created, delivered, and monetised, making business assumptions visible and testable.
- The Business Plan provides a structured framework for turning strategic ideas into concrete actions, defining goals, timelines, financial projections, and operational priorities.
- An overview of funding sources with their respective opportunities and limitations.
Each session will include an introduction to each tool, practical real-life examples, and guided exercises in which participants will be invited to work on their own case with the support of LiveSeeding experts. Participants will receive the working templates (Business Birdview and Business Model Canvas) by email upon registration, allowing them to work directly on their own case during the practical exercises.
Practical information
The webinar is primarily addressed to existing and emerging initiatives involved in organic seed production and organic plant breeding for arable crops and vegetables, with a particular focus on small and medium-sized enterprises and non-profit organisations. It is also relevant for farmers, breeders, and organisations interested in starting organic seed and breeding activities, whether from scratch or by building on conventional farming experiences.
