The 4th International Conference Organic Rice Farming and Production Systems will take place in Sendai, Japan on September 4th – 7th, 2023.
The upcoming conference is expected to bring together a diverse group of experts, including scientists, rice cultivators, and other stakeholders, all with a shared interest in organic rice production and commercialization. This promises to be a valuable and engaging event that offers plenty of opportunities for knowledge-sharing and collaboration.
Our partner, Rete Semi Rurali will also participate in a conference to showcase their Living Lab for organic rice in Italy.

Organic Rice Production in Italy
During the conference, the participants will have the opportunity to learn more about rice cultivation in Italy. More specifically, experts from Rete Semi Rurali will present the key findings of their research, along with colleagues from Consultant Free Lance and the University of Turin.
Rete Semi Rurali collected rice germplasm from national gene banks and multiplied it. Multi-Environmental Trials were carried out in the regions of Lombardy and Piedmont, resulting in a rice mixture with good yield, stability, and disease resistance.
A combined effort between farmers, an organic rice seed company, and rice processors resulted in the establishment of a Living Lab aimed at generating rice Dynamic Populations.
