LiveSeeding at the Let’s Liberate Diversity! Forum 2025!

Nov 3, 2025

From 4 to 6 September 2025, more than 120 participants from over 20 countries gathered at the 14th Let’s Liberate Diversity! Forum in Luxembourg. The event brought together farmers, researchers, seed networks, and policymakers to exchange experiences and strengthen collaboration for cultivated biodiversity.

LiveSeeding contributed through three dedicated workshops, sharing practical results and policy insights from its ongoing work across Europe.

From Granollers to Europe: Local Food Policies for Cultivated Biodiversity

Organised with the Red de Municipios por la Agroecología, this session explored how cities and regions can integrate seed diversity into local food policies. Building on the outcomes of the European Symposium in Granollers and the Granollers Manifesto, participants discussed real examples of municipal action supporting community seed systems, school gardens, and biodiversity-friendly public procurement.

Seed Health and Seed Quality

Led by SEED, ITAB, LiveSeeding, and DKNV, this session focused on how agroecological practices contribute to healthier plants and ecosystems. Participants explored how on-farm evolution and diversified cropping improve seed resilience, reduce dependence on inputs, and enhance long-term soil and plant vitality. The discussion is linked directly to LiveSeeding’s research on organic heterogeneous material (OHM) and plant health indicators.

During the session on fostering technical seed quality, demonstrations and case studies showed how farmers and small seed producers can use simple, low-cost techniques to test germination, vigour, and storage capacity. These practices are essential for building strong, resilient organic seed systems and ensuring high-quality material for farmers.

Strengthening collaboration

LiveSeeding’s participation in the Forum reinforced the project’s multi-actor approach, linking research, policy, and practice. The workshops showcased how project results are being applied in real contexts, helping farmers and local authorities put biodiversity and resilience into practice. As in previous editions, the Forum created an invaluable space for networking and collaboration, laying the groundwork for future projects and joint initiatives.
