The Arable Land Field Day organized by the Hungarian Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (ÖMKi) was highly successful! The event took place on 21 June 2023 at Szár and was attended by nearly 80 farmers, processing industry professionals, advisory specialists, and other interested individuals.

Field day activities

The day started with a visit to the site of small plot experiments, where various trials involving organic post-registration varieties, participatory breeding variety tests, ancient wheat varieties, and organic mixed populations were observed. This field visit allowed us to gain insights into these different experiments.

After the field visit, the participants were able to taste various baked goods crafted from einkorn and emmer flour. The following presentations delved into the current state of participatory breeding and organic farming, along with the outcomes of cereal variety experiments and gastronomic possibilities associated with einkorn and emmer. To conclude the event, the participants were taken on a guided tour of the mill at Csoroszlya Farm.
