Trainings & summer school
Organic breeding and organic seed production are highly specialised and skilled activities, for which “off-the-shelf” training programmes are missing. For that reason, training is a cornerstone activity in LIVESEEDING.

WP5 – Exploitation: horizontal proliferation and scaling-up organic seed and breeding initiatives
Very few seed and breeding business initiatives tackle the six-fold organic seed production increase that is needed by 2030.

As part of LIVESSEDING project, a short video will be produced to showcase the activities and expected impacts of the project.

WP3 – Seed production, seed sourcing, seed quality & health
Insufficient quantity of organic seed (< 50 %) of very limited number of cultivars with partly reduced quality are on the market due to regulatory (general derogation for non-organic seed), technical (pests and diseases), and socio-economic (higher production costs) constraints.

WP4 – Improve organic seed market transparency
As for EC 848/2018, derogations for use of non-organic seed will be out of scope in 2036. Until now only seven countries work with a no-derogation list and in many countries the organic seed databases do not fulfil the regulations requirements.
